Abstract: The article is a review of recent literature and a case study pertaining to the role of the secondary school administrators, including principals, curriculum supervisors, special education directors, and department chairs, in the provision of educational support to special education students. By reviewing what researchers had written, the author discusses several ways that the administrative role is refocused to meet the needs of special education students: providing moral leadership, establishing best practices, attending to basic team tasks, setting clear priorities, encouraging knowledge-based decisions, allowing for instructional flexibility, and creating strong professional bonds among teachers. The description of the case study is brief but illustrates some of the points made by the literature.
